Women’s soccer spent Friday, March 22 with Relay for Life! They raised over $400 dollars to help the American Cancer Society find a cure for cancer. Women’s volleyball and softball also stopped by the 12 hour event to show support!
A lofty goal of collecting 10,000 books for Memphis City Schools was born from the countless hours University of Memphis student-athletes have spent at Hanley Elementary volunteering as tutors and readers as well as working with students in other capacities.
As the campaign winds down, the Tigers have exceeded their goal. Books are being donated to seven Memphis City Schools deemed “Innovation Zone” schools.
In April, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised money to support the Miles for Maddie & Gracie Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser. They stood in the University Center and spoke to other students on campus about Cystic Fibrosis and the affects it has on our population. In total, they raised over $130 to give to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Memphis to help support continued research!

I wanted to thank… the U of M, for supporting the Miles for Maddie and Gracie, Cystic Fibrosis event. You all were a great help with the Josh Pastner autographed basketball and the help from the Student-Athletes. With your help, we had the most successful event we have had, in our seven years of doing this.
Men’s soccer, women’s basketball & women’s softball participated in the Martin Luther King Day of Service in January 2012! We spent the morning cleaning up Memphis Athletic Ministries golf course for the kids!
