Tuesday, April 9th a group of student-athletes, led by new SAAC President, Natalie Turk (WGO), visited St. Jude for a guided tour. Student-athletes from women’s golf, softball, women’s soccer, volleyball, track and field and the pom squad spent the afternoon learning about all St. Jude has to offer its patients. In addition to the tour, they learned that St. Jude has an in house blood drive where they motto is “If you can’t give green, give red!” — This illustrated how every single person can give to St. Jude to fulfill its needs to help children with cancer.

"Student-athletes are looked at as role models in the Memphis community so I think it is very important that they try to reach out and spend time with the children at St. Jude. Some of the patients at St. Jude may not be able to play sports anymore or be very active in general due to their treatment and diagnosis so meeting and interacting with their role models, such as Memphis athletes, can completely change their attitude and have such an impact on their lives. A lot of people think that donations are the main source of help, but visits and interactions with other people help in more ways than one." -St. Jude Tour Guide and Intern
